Geoff Shullenberger and Ashley Frawley discuss the career and thought of the philosopher Nick Land, accelerationist, neoreactionary, and advocate of “paleo-liberalism.” Read Geoff’s recent profile of Land here.
The extensive use of meth probably didn’t help with the CCRU’s misapprehensions of the future in the 90s ha and Land’s pessimistic reactionary turn (as well as explaining why the prose can be so entertaining lol)
All that talk about antihumanism and no mention of Land's entire book on Bataille! (Unless I missed it?) Still, if all I'd got out of listening to this had been the image of the MAGA grandmas puzzling over the Land/Dugin discussion on Auron Macintyre, I'd have come away at least amused. As it is, it was a pleasure to listen to intelligent people on the left honestly and non-reactively grappling with someone like Land instead of just rolling their eyes or going Ewww. I also got a few promising authors to follow up on -- Greif and Baronian and Jakubowski -- so thanks for those.
Thanks Geoff & Ashley for this pod. A valiant attempt to explain materialist eschatology. As a Catholic, I find it fascinating to hear atheists/deists ideas about the end of the world in light of the seeming "end of history"/fall of the Berlin wall.
Various schools of thought co-mingling and the error of reducing all of existence to quantities and erasing qualia.

Thirst for Annihilation is fascinating but it’s been quite a while since I read it. Would need to revisit before having anything interesting to say.

Very very cool and interesting conversation!!
Is the laissez faire satanism idea connected to Crowley’s “do what thou wilt”?
Yes! I should've brought that up as well. I believe NL does in one of his appearances on Michael Downs's podcast.
Okay, thank you!
